Obstetrics and Gynaecology: Obstetrics and Gynaecology are medical specialties that focus on two different aspects of the female reproductive system. Obstetrics deals with the care of the pregnant woman, the unborn baby, labour and delivery and the immediate period following childbirth. Gynaecology deals with any ailment concerning the reproductive organs: uterus, fallopian tubes, cervix, ovaries and vagina. A gynaecologist may also treat related problems in the bowel, bladder and urinary system since these are closely related to female reproductive organs.

 

The Obstetrician & Gynaecologist: A gynaecologist is a doctor who specializes in women's reproductive health. Obstetricians care for women during their pregnancy and just after the baby is born. They also deliver babies. An "ob-gyn" is trained to do all of these things.
